Eligibility
Applicants must provide proof of:
- Registration in an accredited post-secondary program for the fall
- Residency of Bruce, Grey or Huron County (or that of their immediate family – parents or guardians)
- Past recipients of the Bruce Power Post-Secondary Scholarship are not eligible to re-apply
Scholarship Allotments
The following is an outline of how the 100 scholarships will be allocated within the applicant pool.
- 40 scholarships – Available for students who are enrolled in a full-time program of study leading to a university degree
- 35 scholarships – Available for students enrolled in a full-time
program of study leading to a certification from a recognized community
or technical college or institute including skilled trades
- 15 scholarships – Available for self-identified diverse population
in any type of full-time post-secondary studies – person with
disability, Indigenous or visible minority.
- 10 scholarships – Available for special consideration students (see below) in any type of full-time post-secondary studies
Special Considerations
There are several groups that will be considered in this granting area.
- Graduate Students are students engaging in graduate studies including masters, PhD or postgraduate certificate
- First Generation Students are students whose parents have never
participated in post-secondary studies. Post-secondary studies include
college and/or university. A verification letter signed by a parent or
guardian is required for this special consideration
- Current or former Ontario Crown wards are students who currently
are, or previous to their eighteenth birthday were, Ontario Crown wards.
Documentation of ward status is required for this special consideration
- Mature Students (30 years or older) – A student who, due to life
circumstances is deemed a mature student and is returning to school or
engaging in post-secondary studies via correspondence or online.
Examples include but are not limited to re-training due to layoff or
injury, return to work after the care of children or an elderly
dependent, or completing a degree or certificate program started earlier
in their life
A committee of Bruce Power employees and union representatives will
review all applications and select recipients in each of the granting
areas. Each recipient will be contacted directly by July 12.
