Scholarships

Attention students pursuing opportunities in the Skilled Trades through Apprenticeship, College and/or University.

Applications due June 30, 2020:

  • The Grey Bruce and/or Saugeen Homebuilders and Trades Association Bursaries: For students pursuing post-secondary education for careers in the skilled trades.   The amount of the award and number of award(s) available can vary annually.

    The number of awards and amounts distributed each year will be decided by a subcommittee formed by the Grey Bruce Homebuilders & Trades Association.

    Awards will be forwarded to the college or university to be applied against student fees.

    This award is provided through the Grey Bruce Homebuilders & Trades Association Endowed Education Fund Award held by the Community Foundation Grey Bruce.

  • The Bruce Power College or Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Scholarships : Bruce Power is committed to investing in our community and our future. By providing $50,000 in post-secondary school scholarships, we are offering financial assistance to help local students reach their goals.

    If you are a post-secondary student in Bruce, Grey or Huron counties pursuing post-secondary education during the following academic year, we encourage you to apply to receive one of 100, $500 scholarships. The application for this scholarship will open in June, with winners notified in July. Only applications received through our online form will be accepted.

    Bruce Power has 35 scholarships per year available for students enrolled in a full-time program of study leading to a certification from a recognized community or technical college or institute including skilled trades apprenticeships.

  • Lyle & Isabelle Love Skilled Trades Award for Women: 

    The Lyle & Isabelle Love Skilled Trades Award will support Grey & Bruce female students who pursue the skilled trades as a career and will be applied to the student fees at the college/university/qualified trade school which the chosen applicants will be attending. Also open to those who are working as an apprentice or in the trades that wish to go to trade school.

    NOTE - Until 2020, the award is only available to female applicants to encourage women to go into careers in skilled trades. After 2020, anyone may apply.

    This award is provided through revenue earned from the Lyle & Isabelle Love Skilled Trades Endowment Fund held by the Community Foundation Grey Bruce.

Georgian Bay Garden Club Bursary


The Georgian Bay Garden Club (Owen Sound) is again offering Financial Assistance to graduating or graduated students who wish to pursue a career in Horticulture, Landscape Design, Floral Design or Environmental Studies.

To apply, students can visit our web site: georgianbaygardenclubowensound.com. Once there, scroll to "Bursaries" and from there download or print the 4-page Application Package.

At this point, the applicant should contact any one member of our Committee listed below for any clarification or questions. To keep your personal information secure please ask for that Bursary Club member's Post Office mail address and mail your Application package there. That will keep your information safer than sending it by email.

Community Peace Award

The Community Peace Award is a monetary amount given to the winning recipient to acknowledge and encourage the highest standards of promoting peacemaking in the student's personal life, their home life, their school life and their community life. The scholarship will be awarded to one or more graduating seniors from Saugeen District Secondary School who has promoted the concept of Peace through specific achievements and/or opportunities during his/her school years. Up to $500 will be given to the high school "Peacemaker(s) of the Year" recipient(s) for this school year.
