Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau has re-instated the 'Certificate of Recognition' for citizens who make a contribution to the community, education, sports or the arts.

The first recipient, Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS) student, Cydney Morris, is not only an 'A+' student but is also an accomplished vocalist, who was recently only one of two recipients in Ontario to receive the Earle Terry Scholarship in Voice.

The Mayor presented the Certificate to Morris at the recent Saugeen Shores Town Council meeting on January 14th.

Deputy Mayor and a teacher at SDSS, Don Matheson, said that it is time that "more good and positive news in the community was made public."

"This is wonderful," said Morris. "It was totally unexpected."

At only 16, Morris is a long-time student of local voice teacher Jeannette Steeves, who with her husband Graham, attended the presentation, along with Morris' family.
