Welcome to Saugeen District Senior School!
Our school is committed to creating and sustaining a school environment that is free from bullying - including cyber-bullying. As a school community, we agree that bullying of any kind impacts the overall well-being of all students, staff, and associated families. Bullying has negative outcomes on overall student success, mental health and academic success.
At SDSS we recognize and appreciate that the land in which we have the privilege to live and learn is an important part of reconciliation. We keep this awareness central as we meet and learn on the traditional land of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, represented by the communities of Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation whose ancestors were the first to inhabit, care for and live on this land. Their care has shaped and strengthened this community, our province, and our country. As a school, we are dedicated to learning and acknowledging Indigenous history and culture and are committed to actions that move us towards a journey of truth, healing and reconciliation.
At SDSS we are focused on supporting the development of the whole student. We strive to promote an environment where civic responsibility and academic achievement thrive. We know that approaching all activities, both instructional and extracurricular, with a critical eye for equity is key to supporting our community and the individuals who make it up. Our students have many opportunities to stretch themselves through their learning, athletics, and their contribution to making our school a healthy community where all students are welcomed and celebrated.
